"The remarkable social impact and economic success of the Internet is in many ways directly attributable to the architectural characteristics that were part of its design. The Internet was designed with no gatekeepers over new content or services." ~Vinton Cerf

Design Recognition 2010About AndrÉe

Design Recognition is the home of Andrée Emond. Andrée currently works full time in the Public Mining Industry as a web site developer/administrator for a boutique media firm in Vancouver BC.

Andrée is a skilled communicator and has worked in many creative fields before choosing to focus on the web. Working in the music industry as a disc jockey, lighting designer and promoter, she produced live entertainment and corporate events from 1977 through 1990.

The following years were spent studying psychology, life skills and communications. Armed with skills in counselling and group behaviour, Andrée spent the next several years in business sales, marketing and product development. She took over a visual merchandising business called Shank International that specialized in decorative's, fabrics, jewelry displays and signage. Unfortunately, the economic climate made selling US products into Canada very difficult and the company folded in 1997.

Design Recognition bannersIn 1998, Andrée had the opportunity to consult, design and manage awards & recognition programs for a well known company. Working with media marketing, national charities and public companies, Andrée became an effective project manager and built numerous recognition programs still in existence today. Andrée and her ex husband also owned & operated a wine focused catering company called Tasting's Catering that grew into Whisk and Lohman, a specialty food production company.

In 2005, Andrée completed the Webmaster Program at Seneca College. She creates standards based web sites for small business and non-profit clients when time permits. In the fall of 2006, Andrée returned to Seneca College as an instructor and continues to teach Dreamweaver CS5 in their continuing education program.
